Knocking out projects right and left!

My sister came to visit and we combined our to do lists and now we are enjoying the fruits of our labors!

There's been binding and quilting and child caring! Applique, cutting, and movie watching :)

These are some of the projects we've been working on but oh how long the list still is!

A sunny day!

I had a new experience yesterday! In between binding the quilt pictured here and still working on my nine patches (hey at least I'm working on them, :) I'll get there!)

I made a fabric postcard for my sister's upcoming birthday!

Hopefully it doesn't take too long to send it since it's fabric and her b-day is Wednesday

*blush* I hope it makes it!

The front of Sarah's shop has these cute little poppies all across her door and windows and I thought they'd look cute in this little seen

I used some Amy Butler Midwest Modern to make the sun and poppy centers, and a little Anna Maria Horner Garden Party for the main flower. Then I just pulled some fun stash stuff for my clouds and grass and a little blue sky and Viola!

I present to you my first fabric postcard!

Frankly, it amazes me that the post office will pretty much send anything! As long as it's not dusty wet or torn up :)

Who am I to complain though? I'm sure glad they do :) I hope this makes Sarah smile!

Log Cabin Backing

Before I start I'm thrilled to say that one of my Favorite Quilty Heroes was and is having giveaways to celebrate her 100th post and I was privileged to be one of the winners! I have to say it was quite a funny picture this morning of me in my pj's gasping and bouncing around while my husband stared on in wonder :D hehe! Anyway go check out her site she's amazing and maybe you'll be jumping around in your pj's soon too!

So, remember that post I was confessing my sins of the only sewing that had happened in weeks...

Well this is what it turned into!

I'm preparing to back the Log Cabin Suburbia quilt and I think it looks great! (personal opinion ;) ) I think I'm gonna try out some spray on basting for this one. Does anyone have a favorite brand? Spray on basting loves and hates? Let me know please! I'll being doing that soon or I'll chicken out because of the size and just visit the Missouri Star Quilt Co. with quilt in hand and see what there long arm can do for me! We shall see :)

Poppies, Poppies!

It came!!!

This is the beautiful Spring Blooms quilt I received from blogless Debbie Mitchell.
I don't know how she knew it but I definitely have a thing for poppies!

...I guess really I have a thing for pretty much all flowers :)

But I do love the way she put them together! With the cute background blocks, the lime green and the extra texture stitching on the flower heads!

Pampered Pooch Project... complete!

So excited I finished a project! You know I get this way everytime. Finishing just feels so good!
I made this adorable changing pad so you could roll it up and stick it in your diaper bag with no problems!




I decided to finish the edges in baby blue and a scrappy binding :) It's a happy little thing!




I love the back that is finished in a soft fabric with raised bumps across it. So cute!

Happy 4th!

Happy fourth of July everyone!! I'll sing us a little Star Spangled Banner for everyone! :D I'm sure if you were here you'd love it!

On this lovely holiday my husband is away bike riding and I am happily blogging away looking forward to some red, white, & blue cheesecake!
So what better way to celebrate than to show you a liberating project I did recently! I had a freeing moment while making ties for my little man a couple weeks ago.
I knew what I wanted this tie to look like but didn't have the fabric for it. My husband has a long standing joke about rubber chickens... yeah I know, rubber chickens, yes, seriously, oh well :) So I was going to make Jack a rubber chicken tie...

How often do you run into rubber chicken fabric?

Not often for me!

I was being held back by the limitations of the fabric world! Shackled by the injustice of chicken haters the globe over!
Well, after a little while I decided it didn't matter if I had the right fabric I could make my own!!

How you ask?

I appliqued my own rubber chicken right there on that tie!

It was a freeing moment! I cut and sewed exactly what I wanted how I wanted it!

Why you ask?

I did it for the freedom of fabric choice and because it was so dang cute!
It didn't matter that the fabric wasn't pre-designed to what I wanted, that only made it all the more fun!

Who knew applique would be the force to deliver me from the restraints I didn't even know I had!

I hope that through this story of my Fourth of July chicken you too can have a liberating fourth!

Hehe! Have a happy day! Shoot some fireworks and sing me a little Star Spangled Banner!

Confessions

For the last few days this is really all the sewing I've done.

It's sad... I even got in trouble for this at one point because I was supposed to be upstairs saying prayers with my kids but, while looking for stray blankies, I passed the open sewing room door and couldn't help but go and make one more seam!

It's the beginning of a pieced back for my Log Cabin Suburbia quilt. And again today instead of quilting I've got something else pulling at me. I'll be spending the afternoon canning green beans :)

But hey I also cut out the binding!!!

What can I say but it's progress :)
