I'm in the trenches.

I've decided I have to finish my log cabin quilt.
*sigh*
I still love it. I'm just not excited about it. And pebble quilting takes a long time.
Ok I'll quit whining. But next time I am sending my big quilts to the long arm wonderful people that I love *cough* MSQC *cough* It will be wonderful!

Now it's time to stop dreaming and stop quilting. Oh and I can't find my cameras cable to get my pictures off my camera. No worries I will use my old picture it still looks the same. A little further down the quilt but as a picture. About the same.

Oh I hope this goes quickly.
See you on the other side!

Populating Suburbia

Does anybody remember my Log Cabin Suburbia quilt along way back last summer?

Well that's what I pulled out of my unfinished because it's so scary pile :)
I've been wanting to finish this for awhile but I wanted to do something fun with the quilting,
so, I decided to do it.
I knew I could and I'm not finished yet, but,
I am in the process of populating suburbia!

Hehe! It makes me giggle a little to think about it like that :D
I've got 5 kids I've populated quite enough thank you!
For my quilt I wanted it to look a little like a town so I'm quilting sketchy little cars all around the sashings like they are driving around town!
Old trucks at the corner,
and a convertible speeding down the road, unfortunately that's not what I'm driving.
But that's ok because I have a house.
Yes my cute little sedan is pulling up in front of my adorable little house with the flower box windows.

Just a little starter house for me and my hubby, but it has a fireplace! Apparently.
And a circle window, that I think is way cool :D

I'm still working on finishing out all the streets. When I'm through the cars will probably be somewhat hidden and probably only the one quilted house some things are still to decided.
Hopefully I'll be showing you bigger pictures of my little town in a day or two!

I better watch out though, my daunting project is in danger of becoming seriously fun!

How bout a little Snippets for your morning?

I've got a fabulous little thing going with some Snippets by American Jane

I love a work in progress!

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure how this is going to finish up. *blush* Do you ever do that? I've got the basic pattern worked out but I have lots of scraps left -

And I want it to be as large as possible, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to figure out a way to use all the little pieces to increase the size... hmm... we'll see!

I'm loving the polka dots in the fabric I've got the fabric all split into color groups mixed with all the polka dots! They're such happy colors!

The polka dots are going to be running trails through the quilt top though :) I'm so excited it should be pretty cute!

Knocking out projects right and left!

My sister came to visit and we combined our to do lists and now we are enjoying the fruits of our labors!

There's been binding and quilting and child caring! Applique, cutting, and movie watching :)

These are some of the projects we've been working on but oh how long the list still is!

If you go check out The Cutting Table blog at MSQC you can be sure to wish Sarah a Happy Birthday!

Log Cabin Suburbia - Quilt Block #3 and the sashing!

OK So it's not done completely but my Log Cabin Suburbia quilt top is done!!!

I don't want to re upload all the instructions on here so here are the links to my posts on the MSQC forum

This is the whole quilt top all together! I love it! I used Amy Butler's Quilting Solid in Slate to sash it and I think it's fantastic! I can't wait till I get to quilt it!

I'm gonna try and get ahold of some more Alexander Henry Camden Fair Fabric to bind it! Clap, Cheer! Yay!
Wow, I think I just finished my first tutorial :)

That Crazy Mom is infecting us all!

Yes, I'm joining up to.  Crazy Mom Quilts is infectious I think!  Of course, it could just be that the quilts she works on are gorgeous and we all like getting together for this stuff!  Well, my sister was the one who convinced me finally that I had enough scraps between myself and her and our mother's huge stash to be able to participate and finish this quilt,
so, *deep breath* here we go.

After starting the project at her house I came home with a whopping 2 blocks done!

Hey! There was a lot of talking going on ok! :) haha! We had a great time talking and laughing and sewing! And I came home with a stack of scraps that promise many more blocks to come till I visit again and share, er, get :) more fabric!

So this is what I have so far!

My colors are a little off I think but you get the idea :) After my day with Nat and a day by myself... more sewing gets done when I'm by myself (of course by myself is subjective too considering that I have 5 kids :) ) but sewing with Nat is way more fun... I now have 9 blocks done and have the great feeling of being on my way!

Favorite Tool... of the moment!

OK, so I got very excited a couple days ago when I discovered I had a walking foot! Who doesn't want to find that kind of treasure while looking through their piles and shelves filled with all things sewing!

Here it is!

I have been saying how I wish I had a walking foot for quite awhile now! I had no idea it was hiding tucked away in a drawer! I think it's pretty old, but I love it! So I got very excited, attached it to my machine, and couldn't stop smiling as my fabric went through so much more evenly! I'd been making Square in a Square blocks for the Quilt along and suddenly there was no left over edges all the measurements seemed suddenly perfect! It was amazing! Hehe!

So, there it is my favorite tool of the moment! What's your favorite tool right now? Let's hear it!

P.S. Go check out my new table runner over at the MSQC Blog! It's so cute and has been waiting for weeks to be finished! So go give it some love! :)

Soon to be a WIP :)

So does this look like a project waiting to happen or what!
My little boy Jack is just big enough to sit in a highchair I pulled it out and remembered that after the use of 4 girls in it I had thrown away the fabric padding for it!
It was necessary trust me :)
So I'm wanting to make something new for it and I'm not sure what fabric to use.  It's got to be very boy!
Am I stuck with solids, polka dots, or boy applique?

Alex would love bicycle's but that is so hard to come by!
Any suggestions for me?  I need 'em!

Happy Spring to Finish!

Well unfortunately my Spring to finish projects didn't finish to much this time around...
I got my Headbands done...
and some really cute Easter eggs...

from this tutorial done. (I know the banister leaves much to be desired but the eggs were stinkin' cute! I had to put them up!)
I finished my Why Choose Quilt (Though I'm still working on writing up it's pattern, oh well)

And that's it. Pretty sad if you ask me. I did work on a several other stalled projects all while helping my husband with his new business plans. By way of sewing, I finished my first set of blocks for the quilt along I'm leading...
but they're still just blocks. I'm finishing as we speak my coin quilted you are what you eat quilt... but even then it needs to be quilted and bound. I finished my Jan, Feb, & Mar BOM KC Star quilt blocks ( I don't have April or May's yet :) ), but again... still just blocks on the table! As well as working up some cute little footballs rattles I'm going to be selling on etsy. So, all of these last things are just finishing another step, they are still projects whether they are in the block stage, top stage, or else where. Oh well, :) I'm glad I got these things moving again! It was fun to play and I got myself 3 entries in Jaquie's contest!
Happy Spring to Finish! How'd you do? Did you Spring miles or feet to your finish?

Sewing Along

In my mind there's always a reason to sew! But here's one more...

This is a fabulous idea that's keeping us all sewing! I've got at least 4 projects in the works that I would love to finish this month and hopefully I'll manage a few more in there! I'll Spring to finish some start to finish projects!!! How bout you? Let's get a few projects out from the back of our closets and get 'em ready for the world to see!
